The Dejavoo QD2 is a compact Android handheld built for fast contactless payments on the counter or at the table. This quick start reference walks you through the entire QD2 setup, from the moment you open the box to settling your first day of sales. The flow is short, and once you know the order of the steps you can be live in minutes.
Before you begin, have three things ready: your Wi-Fi network name and password, your merchant terminal ID (TID), and a roll of thermal receipt paper. With those on hand, work through the steps below in order and your QD2 will be ready for customers. Want the full spec sheet? See the Dejavoo QD2 product page.
1Unbox and power on the QD2
- Begin your Dejavoo QD2 quick start by unpacking the box and confirming every part arrived: the QD2 terminal, the power adapter, and a roll of thermal receipt paper. Inspect the compact handheld for any shipping damage before you power it on.
- Open the printer bay on the back, drop in the paper roll so it feeds from the bottom, and pull a short tail past the cutter. Connect the power adapter and hold the power button until the Dejavoo logo appears, then let the QD2 finish booting to the home screen.
2Connect Wi-Fi or Ethernet
- From the QD2 home screen, open the settings or gear menu and choose your connection type. For Wi-Fi, select your network name, enter the password exactly (it is case-sensitive), and wait for the signal icon to confirm the terminal is online.
- If you prefer a wired connection, plug an Ethernet cable into the QD2 dock or LAN adapter and the device will pull an address automatically. A stable connection is the foundation of the whole QD2 setup, so confirm you are online before moving on.
3Load parameters and activate
- With the QD2 online, download its parameters — the settings that link the terminal to your merchant account and processor. Open the setup or download menu and start the parameter download; the terminal contacts the host, pulls your configuration, and reboots.
- After it restarts, the QD2 is activated and ready to process live cards. If the download stalls, double-check your connection and your terminal ID (TID). Our Puerto Rico team can push parameters to your QD2 remotely if you get stuck.
4Configure receipts and tip prompts
- Tailor the QD2 to how you do business. In the receipt settings, add your business name, address, and phone to the header, and choose whether customers get a printed copy, an emailed copy, or both.
- If you take tips, enable the tip prompt and set suggested percentages such as 15%, 18%, and 20%. You can also turn on tip adjustment so staff add gratuity after the sale — handy for the QD2's mobile, tableside use.
5Run a test transaction
- Before your first customer, run a small test sale to confirm the QD2 works end to end. Ring up a low amount, then insert a chip card, tap a contactless card or phone, and swipe to verify all three read methods respond.
- Void or refund the test right away so it does not settle, and confirm the receipt prints cleanly with correct totals. A successful test is the final checkpoint that your Dejavoo QD2 quick start is complete.
6Reprint a receipt
- Need a duplicate for a customer or your records? From the QD2 main menu, open the receipt or reprint option, then choose the last transaction or search by amount or reference number.
- The QD2 will print an exact copy without re-running the sale. Keeping a habit of reprinting when a print job smudges saves you from re-charging a card by mistake.
7Settle and batch out
- At the end of each business day, settle the QD2 so your sales fund to your bank. From the main menu open the settlement or batch option and confirm the batch total matches your day's takings.
- The QD2 sends the batch to your processor and prints a settlement report. Batching out daily is what moves money from captured to deposited, so make it part of your closing routine.
8Troubleshooting common issues
- If the QD2 will not connect, restart your router and re-enter the Wi-Fi password, watching for a wrong character. If a parameter download fails, verify the TID and retry on a stronger signal. Declined test cards usually mean activation did not finish — re-run the parameter download.
- For printing problems, reopen the paper bay and reseat the roll so it feeds from the bottom. If anything still looks off, reach out — local support means you talk to a real person who knows Puerto Rico merchants.
